For Sale: 1978 Chevrolet Corvette in Cincinnati, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Exterior: The Silver Metallic exterior is in good driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a great gloss and nice shine. Both door open and shut nicely as do the hood and headlights. The YJ8 aluminum wheels and center caps are in beautiful condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The BF Goodrich Radial TA tires are virtually brand new and show almost no wear. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some touch-ups and other small blemishes around the car that were too tiny to show up in the pictures, but nothing that is really noticeably from about ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, it is very clean and this Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. The frame is totally solid with no rust around the "key hole" are in front of the rear tire and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield, which are the two most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. Window Date Codes: Please note that ALL of the glass on this Corvette, even the windshield, is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of November 11, 1977 (C11). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage. The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Interior: The Black interior in this Corvette is in fantastic condition. The seats are in excellent condition with no rips, split seams, or signs of wear. They are not worn in the typical area where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is excellent condition with no holes, or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The door panels are in wonderful shape with no splits or cracks and, unlike many Corvettes of this age, they fit well and tight to the door. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome overall with no sun fading, there is a small blemish on the right corner of the dash pad. The jack and jack handle are still with the car, stored correctly behind the passenger seat, and pictured below showing the original decals on the compartment lid. The original spare is still with the car and still has the nubs on it. This Corvette features a modern radio and sound system with hookups for an iPod or smartphone. Most importantly, this radio is a Corvette specific unit made for this car so the original dash was no cut or modified for the installation. The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. The previous owner of the car is a railroad mechanic and said he spent about $3,000 in parts on the car. It starts right away every time, runs well, and idle smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations or strange noises and the car performs quite well overall. The clutch feels good, the car shifts nice, and does no pop out of gear. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, correct and complete as one can see in the photos. Even the upper ignition shielding and original catalytic converter are still in place. The radio works as do all the exterior lights, wipers, horn, and all of the gauges with the obvious exception of the clock. The blower works on all speeds. The a/c works and blows cold. The vacuum system for the headlights works correctly. Also, the headlights go up properly with either the headlight switch or vacuum override switch. There complete operation form both switches can be viewed in the video below. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-Speed and T-tops out on a beautiful day. The car runs and drives as well as it looks. Overall Condition: Overall, this 1978 Corvette is in magnificent driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing, and as any buyer can see this Corvette is extremely correct. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased considerably over the past several years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
