Even in January 1953 Road & Track magazine talked of a favorite “used car” that had startled many onlookers when the American Museum of Modern Art in New York staged an exhibit of automobiles that featured eight cars that they described a “classic examples of modern art.” Among these select eight was the 1941 Lincoln Continental. Road & Track stated “This car is held by many to be the supreme classic ever produced in America. Long and low, the ‘Queen’ still calls forth wolf whistles wherever she goes. Old age has settled upon her and many of her lines are dated, but there is enough grace and charm to make her a center of attention.” It is hard to believe this car is now 75 years old; it has been regarded as a classic for nearly its entire existence and remains regal, eye-catching and admired.
Finished in the rich maroon tone that was called Volanta Coach Maroon in 1941, this 1941 Lincoln Continental has a tan interior and is reported as being an original car. Along with running the V-12 Lincoln powerplant, this car has a three-speed manual transmission, AM radio, fender skirts at the rear and the readily identified and eponymous Continental kit. It is conveyed that this Lincoln has well-kept paint, a nice interior that is well-preserved, original wood dash details, nice upholstery and a clean engine bay. Color-keyed steel wheels, hubcaps and trim rings are accented by Firestone wide whitewall tires and in keeping with the timeless style of this Full CCCA Classic.
