Nineteen Seventy-Seven marked the final year the VW Beetle Sedan was imported to the U.S. This was the last iteration of Germany’s People's Car that was capable of transporting four adults in relative comfort at highway speeds of sixty miles-per-hour. Reputedly inspired by the Czechoslovakian Tatra T97, the Beetle has become an icon of mid-century culture.
This Volkswagen Beetle, with a sunroof, is presented as a rare opportunity to own a non-restored piece of German history. The car remains as it would have as it rolled off the assembly line in Germany. It also has the standard undercoating that all Volkswagens received when they reached the port in Los Angeles, California. Not only is it original, but it is presented with a very desirable color combination of silver paint over a mint condition black interior.
After this Beetle was purchased new it was driven home from the dealership and put in the garage where it would be covered for the next 25 years. After it was uncovered it transported to another collector where it would be serviced and readied for the road. The car has the standard four-cylinder engine and a manual transmission. It also has less than 70 miles, which are believed to be original to the car.
