This outstanding example of the legendary 930 Turbo presents in exemplary condition throughout, it has been meticulously maintained and properly serviced its entire life. This stunning Turbo Coupe will be very suitable for club events or weekend enjoyment, and is ready to drive, show and enjoy for years to come.Inside, the Turbo could be any 911 of the same vintage, but for a few minor details. A small boost gauge is incorporated into the tachometer at the six-o'clock position. Check the shift knob and you'll see that the gear pattern stops at fourth (The 930 Turbos were never equipped with five-speeds by the factory). Aside from that, the Turbo is a well-dressed 911. This example boasts outstanding condition soft blue leather that is lavished throughout the cockpit, including the dash top. The seats in front are well-contoured and nicely bolstered, and in excellent condition, providing miles of comfortable driving enjoyment. A full load of extras, from air to sunroof, are standard just as would be expected in a car that was one of the top-tier exotics of the time.Under the whale tail, the 911 Turbo's air-cooled, turbocharged and intercooled flat-six powerplant displaces 3.3 liters. This engine sounds serious: lumpy and hoarse, with an occasional spit thrown in for good measure. There's no heavy thrust down low -- Then the boost comes in as the revs go past 4500 rpm, the exhaust hisses like a very angry 3000-pound cat, and whoosh! The bottom line horsepower was fatter than ever. Porsche's technological advancements were put to good use in the 930. The factory tweaking included a three-way catalytic converter, an oxygen sensor, and electronic assistance for the Bosch mechanical fuel-injection system.Throughout the later 1970s and into the 1980s, the 930 evolved into an ever-more sophisticated, more luxurious, and more powerful road car. By 1987, the Turbo boasted a 3.3-liter engine, which was connected to a smooth four-speed manual transaxle, and could produce 282 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 289 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm, The ventilated brake rotors were drilled for increased efficiency, and a large intercooler was housed within the "Tea-Tray" rear spoiler. The 1987 930 Turbo, of which 1,695 were built for the U.S. market and another 786 for the "Rest of the World" (RoW), was capable of a near-160 mph top speed.Porsche 930 Turbos are becoming exceedingly difficult to locate, especially outstanding condition and fully provenanced examples such as this one.
