In 1986, the Porsche 911 Turbo, or 930, as it’s commonly referred to, made a triumphant return to the United States market. Following a six-year absence from the states due to stricter emissions requirements, the 1986 911 Turbos were fitted with a Bosch DME engine management system, oxygen sensors and catalytic converters to conform with U.S. emissions requirements. Notable additions to the 1986 911 included a new dash panel which featured larger air vents; as well as U.S. cars receiving an additional brake light located at the top of the rear window. For 1986, Porsche only produced 1,424 examples of the 911 Turbo in U.S.-specification.
This 1986 Porsche 911 is presented in Meteor Grey Metallic with factory Fuchs wheels. Additional exterior features include Porsche’s iconic “whale tail.” The car is powered by a 3,165-cc, 282-hp flat six-cylinder type 930 engine which is paired to a four-speed manual transmission. Power is sent from the transmission to a limited-slip differential. The interior is completed in the gorgeous Cancan Red leather featuring power sport seats, VDO instrumentation, a Blaupunkt ‘Monterey’ radio; as well as power windows and sliding sunroof. A unique added option to this car is the alarm system. Documentation on the 911 includes the window sticker, owner’s manual and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Also included with the car is a spare tire change kit, the original toolkit and first aid kit.
This 911 Turbo is reported to have been purchased from Hendricks Performance and is stated as a true survivor that has never been touched. This is an excellent opportunity to enter into Porsche 911 Turbo (930) ownership, with what’s believed to be an original two-owner car.
