The Torch Red on this snake-bitten Mustang is in such great condition that you know it has lived a pampered, garage-kept life. The whole coupe is a great modern representation of what Carroll Shelby did to the original Mustang five decades ago. These cars take the retro-look pony coupes and make them more aggressive. The blacked-out grille and hood vents make for a perfect dark side to this bright finish. Plus, the upgraded carbon fiber chin spoiler looks like it has never seen the top of a curb. Just in case the full-length racing stripes, lower rocker stripes, and Super Snake style wheels were not enough hints for others to get out of your way; then Cobra badges on the grille, fenders, and rear gas cap are the perfect announcement about how hard you bite back.
Inside, the black bucket seats might be cowhide leather, but they've got Shelby's trademark snake embossed in them. They even have the dual racing stripes to mirror the exterior. Barely averaging over 3,000 miles means little seat time and few opportunities for wear-n-tear. There are no scuffs on the doorsills, no scratches in the dash, and the carpets still look factory fresh – this was positively someone's baby. Shelbys came only one way, loaded. This means power windows, power locks, power seats, keyless entry, cruise control, and dual zone automatic climate control are all present and working perfectly. The stereo is the optional AM/FM/XM/CD Shaker unit with a touchscreen interface. It pumps out huge power, and it's still modern enough to have Bluetooth, satellite navigation, and interface with your iPod. And speaking of modern conveniences, you also get the safety of dual front airbags, side airbags, and ABS. But even with all these features, all you really care about is gripping the leather-wrapped steering wheel in your left hand, placing the sifter in your right one, and holding on for a speedy adventure.
Under the hood is the original DOHC 5.4-liter V8 engine. And while the fuel-injected motor was already a giant killer right out of the box, this one has had some serious investment added. It now has a VMP Performance Gen 2 supercharger running a 22 psi boost. Other VMP upgrades include dual electronic fuel pumps and twin 67mm throttle body that keep this enhanced motor running correct. But the go-fast goodies don't stop there. The Shelby also has a JLT 123mm cold-air intake, Injector Dynamics 1000 injectors, ATI lower crank, over-driven pulley, JLT tensioner, SCT tuner programming, and Stainless Works long tube headers. The full package is rated 830 hp at the crank and 713 at the rear wheels. We've got the dyno sheet to prove it, but all you really need to do is fire up this supercharged snake, and the roar of the H-pipe performance will let everyone will know your power supremacy. This takes the car beyond Super Snake territory, but components like the six-speed manual transmission were built stout enough just for this exact purpose. You've also got power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and super-sticky Nitto Invo performance tires to keep you in complete control of this extra-speedy Shelby.
