In 1949 Chrysler redesigned the Plymouth for 1950 to be the features leader in the low-priced field. At the top of the Plymouth lineup was the Special Deluxe like the convertible model offered for sale here. The topline Plymouth featured bright metal front and rear window trim, front door armrests, dash-mounted clock and cigar lighter all at no additional charge. This 1950 Special Deluxe convertible underwent a photo-documented, body-off, nut and bolt restoration some three decades ago and has been carefully maintained and stored in a climate controlled garage ever since to preserve its pristine condition. The odometer reads 51,459 miles which is believed to be original. The exterior features a laser straight body painted in a beautiful bright red that is highly polished. The tan convertible top also appears as new and includes a glass rear window. All of the glass, trim and chrome were returned to factory fresh during the restoration and continue to appear as new today. Dual side spot lights add a special touch to the exterior as does the chrome wire wheels wrapped in period correct Firestone wide white sidewall tires. The trunk has been full detailed and includes a carpeted floor mat, full size spare tire and jack. Inside you will find a fully restored original tan cloth and red vinyl bench seat interior. All of the upholstery, door panels, carpet and dash appear as new. The interior includes the optional AM push button radio as well as the factory clock. The original gauges have been restored to appear as new. Power comes from the original rebuilt 217 CI / 97 HP L Head inline six backed by a 1953 vintage three speed manual OD transmission.
