For many throughout the ‘60s and into the ‘70s, a musclecar took them to work all week, run the daily errands and then to the drag strip on the weekend. In the eyes of some enthusiasts, the Barracuda was the best musclecar available and one of the finest multi-purpose options.

The `Cuda was considered the performance Barracuda in the 1970 Plymouth lineup that featured three different Barracuda models; the choices were the Gran Coupe (in the model’s most refined state), the standard Barracuda model and the sport-oriented `Cuda. Plymouth proudly touted that all of the handling “goodies” were of the heavy-duty variety; the `Cuda also came with front and rear sway bars.

You can easily identify the `Cuda by its distinctive hood with twin scoops and hood lock pins. Attractive in design by being low-slung and having big, wide tires to maximize the power in a straight line and the cornering capabilities for the twisty sections of the road, the `Cuda is always ready for action.

Moulin Rouge is the obvious color choice on this coupe. This code M3 tone represents one of the rarest and most unique colors to come out of Chrysler Corporation. This car, coming from private collection was restored back to original factory status. Online research cannot confirm how many code M3 `Cuda coupes were assembled, but it’s believed by those who research these matters to be less than 100.

Built in Los Angeles; this particular example is reported as loaded with factory options including the famous 340-cid, 275-hp V-8 four-barrel carb engine and heavy-duty automatic transmission that are stated as correct for the car. Other features are seen with power steering, power front disc brakes, air conditioning and tinted glass. The 340 `Cuda is also equipped with black “hockey stick” side stripe, dual chrome racing mirrors (with driver’s side remote), fender-mounted turn signals and correct chrome exhaust tips. The interior is pronounced as flawless and consists of black vinyl bucket seat, wood-rimmed steering wheel, console and dash fascia with woodgrain insert and slapstick shifter, Rallye instrument package and three-speed windshield wipers. It also has the correct Rallye wheels with BFGoodrich Radial T/A 225/60-15 front and 255/60-15 rear white letter tires.

This Plymouth is both clean and docile enough to drive every weekday and take to the shows on the weekends. Factory literature boasted of an aircraft-inspired cockpit that created a hint of luxury with the instrumentation providing a gauge of the fun; you will like it here.
