In the 1950s American car enthusiasts clamored to attend GM’s traveling Motorama, a no-holds-barred display of astounding technology and exquisite styling. A series of dramatic styling exercises captivated the public—but most were not for sale. Three very special cars were made available for purchase by General Motors by the few who could afford the startling price tags and who also had the influence needed to secure one. They were the Oldsmobile Fiesta, the Buick Skylark and the Cadillac Eldorado; all three models are coveted by collectors today. Ownership of all three is effectively considered a “Triple Crown” in the hobby.

The Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight model was always the top model car that Olds offered. In 1953, it was made even richer with a limited production run late in the model year. Called the Fiesta; then as now, it is recognized as a very rare five-passenger convertible.

The Fiesta had nearly every option that was offered by Olds, including a wraparound windshield, “spinner” wheel covers, and attractive two-tone paint schemes available in exclusive colors. Each car was equipped with power steering, brakes, top, windows and seat. The only option that was not fitted was factory air conditioning which was deemed as unnecessary for a convertible in the era. The interiors were available in broadcloth, gabardine or leather.

Styled for glamor and for power, but mainly for fun - the Oldsmobile Fiesta was a fleet and spirited car of great desirability. With original characteristics and lively matching interior and exterior tones; this Fiesta has been cosmetically restored with a repaint, new top, leather interior and soft-top. This example looks great with the Continental kit accentuating the already stylish design. It is powered by the 303.7-cid, 170-hp Rocket V-8 engine matched to a Hydra-Matic transmission and also displays a padded dash, Super Deluxe AM radio with power antenna, heater/defroster, fender skirts, whitewall tires and dual mirrors. The Fiesta is arguably the rarest of the 1953 GM production cars with only 458 of these convertibles produced; considerably fewer have survived.
