Horlow Curtice was the President of Buick in 1940. This year would also be the best production year that they had leading up to 1940. The 1940 model year Buicks were introduced on September 22, 1939. For this year, all Buick engines would be equipped with oil filtration systems and sealed beam headlights would be found on all models. Dual side-mount spares were a popular option, but this would be the last year that it would be available. The brand new item that would be fitted to Buicks would be a feature called “Fore-N-Aft Flash-Way directionals.” Buick made history by producing its four-millionth car on November 18, 1940.

The Buick Offered here is a Special Series convertible that has been the recipient of an older restoration and is powered by an inline eight-cylinder engine. The transmission is a three-speed transmission with a single disc clutch plate. Four-wheel hydraulic brakes were equipped; along with a semi-floating rear axle. Options that were equipped on this model year included a front bumper guard, fog lights and outside mirrors.
