With the sweeping design changes to the 1955 Ford line a new model was slipped into the lineup to compete with Chevrolet’s Corvette, the Thunderbird. An immediate hit, the Thunderbird amazingly outsold the established Corvette twenty-three to one. The Thunderbird was marketed as a personal luxury vehicle, but hints of sportiness could be seen throughout, one of which was the 150-mph speedometer. In 1955 Ford produced 16,155 examples of the Thunderbird.
This 1955 Ford Thunderbird has benefitted from a full rotisserie restoration. The car is presented in red with fender skirts and a black Stay Fast convertible top. It rides on wide whitewall radial tires which are mounted on standard rims with deluxe wire wheel covers. The car is powered by a 292-cid V-8 engine which is paired to a floor-shift automatic transmission. The interior is completed in red and white, featuring a power bench seat, clock and radio.
