This gorgeous, Tuxedo Black 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Replica is a blast to drive and is practically brand new with just 1350 miles. That's correct, I did say Replica, but not just any replica....this speedster was hand built by Vintage Speedsters out of California, the #1 builder of Porsche Speedster Replicas. In fact they have built about 90% of all the Porsche Speedster replicas on the market and their quality and customer service is top notch. They use a custom built, jog welded 2x4" 11 gauge steel frame. This rigid new structure retains the original VW floor pan designed by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and integrates the largest frame possible. In addition the steering wheel is offset slightly just as it was in the original Speedster. While original Speedsters are a rare breed, Vintage Speedster Replicas are rare in their own right with roughly only 3000 built.
This particular black beauty was built by Vintage in 2014 for a gentleman in Florida who wanted to surprise his wife for her 57th birthday. She was thrilled with the gift and they enjoyed the car for the first year on sunny day drives and cruises around town. Unfortunately, she decided that driving a 4-speed manual was not her thing anymore and she drove the car less and less. Rather than let it sit and collect dust they decided to let the next lucky owner enjoy this beautiful roadster.....LUCKY YOU!!!! Since they were in Florida he ordered this Speedster with the Ice Cold Air Conditioning option which you do not see very often but is really great for those of you living in the warmer climates. The car was always garaged and pampered and looks essentially showroom new. This will be a great addition to any car guy or gals collection, or perfect for anyone looking for a truly unique sports car investment that can be driven anywhere as well be taken to the car shows and cruise-ins. Most people have no idea that this is not an original worth well over $150k and it will be up to you if you want to reveal the secret when you get stopped everywhere you go. With just 1350 miles on it this Black Speedster is in near flawless, showroom condition. It was always garage kept and stored under a custom cover when not in use. The paint and body are beautiful and you will see the great reflection in the paint in some of the pics that follow. Body panel fit is fantastic and the doors on this replica open and shut like a new Porsche. Everyone who sees this car is extremely impressed with how authentic it looks. The only thing I noticed that keeps me from saying it is absolutely perfect is a super tiny scratch on the rear bumper that was touched up. I doubt you will see it even in person unless I point it out. All of the chrome and stainless trim looks excellent and this one was ordered with the headlight rock guards. I think the photo tour of the body that follows will show you just how nice this car is.
I believe these Speedsters should be driven top down as often as possible but of course it is nice to know that if needed this Speedster has a gorgeous tan convertible top that goes up in minutes and fits very nicely. There are side window inserts as well. The top is in like new condition. When you have the top down you have 2 options with this car since it was ordered with the optional full tonneau cover which allows you to close the whole cabin of the car when it is parked and zip out the drivers area during your ride. Or, simply use the boot cover.
Complimenting the stunning and classy Tuxedo Black exterior is an equally impressive tan, distressed leather interior. This has to be one of the best color combinations on these cars!! The interior is also essentially flawless. Simplistic sophistication is the best way to describe the layout of the interior. Very comfortable and supportive bucket seats look like new. Seat belts for both front passengers. There is a rear seat pad but I think it is more like a storage shelf than a seat. Door panels and carpeting look awesome. Dash is neatly laid out with all of the gauges you need to monitor the performance of this air cooled 1600 cc dual carb engine. All of the gauges, lights, turn signals etc are working correctly. The speedometer and odometer are actually in Kilometers so as you will see the odometer reads about 2117 km which is a little under 1350 miles. Probably the nicest upgrade on this Speedster is the addition of ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING which works great!!! This really adds to the comfort for those of you living in warmer climates and will allow you to drive the car more frequently in the summer time and of course this car also has heat for those of you needing that. There is also a great upgraded Sony am/fm/cd/mp3 with Blue tooth that has been neatly installed under the dash and sounds great. Beautiful Nardi woodgrain steering wheel as well.
This is the 11th Vintage Speedster I have owned so I knew what to expect when it this one arrived. However, I when I got my first one I have to admit I was a little skeptical about how much fun it would be to drive. Well, after driving that first one I was immediately a fan and this one, with just 1350 miles on it drives just as good as the first one. If you ask me if the car is fast I will be honest and tell you no it is not. If you ask me if it is fun to drive I will enthusiastically say absolutely yes!!! These cars have a serious fun factor unlike anything else. The 1600 cc dual carb air cooled engine is nice and peppy and cruises along at highway speeds with no problem. This particular car also has the upgraded 3.88 Freeway flyer transmission. The car has a nice tone and you can hear it running in the video that follows. This little speedster also handles really well and the tires are just about new. Braking is a breeze with the upgraded front disc brake option this one has. Maintenance is cheap and easy on this car and any foreign car mechanics should be able to do a valve adjustment and tune up every 3-4,000 miles to keep it running great. The chrome wheels and hub caps are very period correct and look like new. The undercarriage looks great and engine bay is also nice and clean as you would expect with such low mileage. Plenty of storage in the front trunk area so go ahead and take that weekend trip to the mountains or the beach, it will be a ride to remember but make sure you leave a little extra time for all the questions and thumbs up you will get along the way. When you are not using the car you can store it under the custom cover that is included. There is nothing this car needs but you in the drivers seat!!
