See 100 photos and video on main website: Garage Kept Motors Offered here is an iconic American automobile: the 1964.5 Ford Mustang Convertible 289. This is a mid-year Mustang, the first year Ford released the car, and rolled off the production line on June 21, 1964 from the Dearborn, MI plant. The car remains in highly original condition, starts and drives extremely well, and has only been driven 4,000 miles by the current owner since he purchased it in the first week of May, 2002. The car was originally delivered into Canada and the second owner completed a rotisserie restoration in 1991. The car is powered by the desired and original D Code 289ci/225hp 4V V8 engine mated to the original C4 3-Speed Automatic Transmission, which was rebuilt in 2007. Noteworthy features include a 3.0:1 axle ratio, power steering and brakes, Ford AM radio, Cobra valve covers, chrome air cleaner, chrome dip stick and oil cap. Front bucket seats are both adjustable, which is rare on the 1964’s to have an adjustable passenger seat. It has upgraded 15-inch Goodyear Eagle tires and upgraded wheels. The car is finished in Red over a white vinyl interior with black carpet and a black convertible soft top. It has just under 80k original miles. Repairs and service include the rebuilt transmission in 2007 and most recently a new power steering unit, new steering wheel, new rear LED taillights, rebuilt shift linkage, and new timing cover gasket. Geldhof Garage on Ionia, MI did all the work, including the synthetic oil change. All original parts are also included in the sale: 4bbl intake, cluster, 3 14-inch spinner hubcaps, and air cleaner. It also comes with two sets of the original keys and car cover. 1964.5 Mustangs are hard to come by, especially 289 Convertibles in this condition. This is the first of the first generation Mustangs offered at a reasonable price. If taken care of, this car is sure to appreciate in years to come.
