In the period this fine car was built, if you asked the average American young adult to name the automobile he aspired to when he had made his way – quite likely it would be the name of Cadillac. At this point Cadillac had spent nearly 45 years of unshakable faithfulness to their highest principles of engineering and craftsmanship. They had become synonymous with quality in the eyes of all ages, so deep and pervading was the respect.

The year 1946 marked mark the first year of postwar automobile production for Cadillac. Like many other automakers, Cadillac chose to re-release their prewar models with minor changes. The following 1947 models received a minor facelift. They now displayed grilles with five massive horizontal bars instead of the six seen on the ‘46s. The front fender labeling was now in script instead of the block form of 1946. Upholstery and paint combinations were revised and additional detail changes were seen in the plush interiors.

For 1947 Cadillac offered four models: Series 60 Special Fleetwood, Series 61, Series 62, and Series 75 Fleetwood. The Series 75 Fleetwood was offered in five different body configurations, plus over 2,600 Business and Commercial chassis’. The Fleetwood bodies consisted of the Five-Passenger Four-Door Sedan, Seven-Passenger Four-Door Sedan, Nine-Passenger Business Sedan, Nine-Passenger Imperial Business Sedan and Seven-Passenger Imperial Sedan.

This Body Style number 7523 1947 Cadillac Series 75 Fleetwood Seven-Passenger Sedan is one of 890 reported built. It is presented in white with a blue interior. The front driver’s seat is upholstered in vinyl, while the rear seats are velour. Jump seats are also part of the factory fittings. The car is powered by a 346-cid, 150-hp V-8 engine paired with a manual transmission. The car sits on whitewall tires and has received a cosmetic restoration.
According to the current owner, this 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 was originally owned by Senator Rupert Davies, publisher of the Kingston Whig Standard and father of Canadian author Robert Davies.
