For Sale: 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham in Brea, California

Vehicle Description

1 of 304 produced in 1958 Body by Fleetwood Cadillac Northstar V-8 engine Automatic transmission Self-leveling air suspension Power steering Power brakes Brushed steel roof pane Suicide doors Tinted glass Air conditioning Low profile Goldline tires Full size look-a-like wheel covers Believed to be 56,200 miles When GM showed concept cars, they not only shocked the inevitable large crowd and got their imaginations reeling, they marked the things to come. During the 1953-54 season, Cadillac brought about the Park Avenue and Orleans show cars which carried various cues that would become part of the Series 70 Eldorado Brougham, one of the most expensive, elaborate and exotic cars to ever wear the Wreath and Crest. First sold in the spring of 1957, the hand-built Eldorado Brougham was a supremely limited edition vehicle featuring unique touches that stood out a mile above other cars of the era. A massive sheet of brushed stainless steel made up the roof, side detailing created a unique cove that ended in an ‘intake’ with five strakes on the rear-hinged back doors, the side windows featured no division in the pillar-less sport sedan design and four headlights adorned the front end to name a few of the more obvious elements. Costing a whopping $13,000 at the time, it was twice the price of a standard Eldorado and entered Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Benz territory. It used an air suspension to provide self-leveling and was the first to bring two-position Memory Power Seats to the market. Polarized sun visors, electric antenna, automatic parking brake release, automatic trunk opener, dual heating system, electric door locks and more helped this car build a reputation as one of the most luxurious and technologically advanced vehicles in the world. Cadillac offered 44 full-leather interior and trim combinations and could select such items as Mouton, Karakul or lambskin carpeting, but in all, the sky was the limit with the Eldorado Brougham. Kings of the entertainment industry such as Sinatra were some of the earliest to purchase these cars that ceased production in 1958. During the final year, only 304 were built, this being one. In this example the original engine has been replaced by a modern Cadillac 4.6L Northstar V-8 engine providing gobs of power delivered in a fantastically refined manner with superb reliability. An automatic transmission, of course, does the shifting and, as would be expected by an Eldorado Brougham, the car is complete with power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. Equipped with low-profile Goldline tires and full-size wheel covers this rolling luxury statement is believed to have covered only 56,200 miles.
