If you're in the market for something fun that's guaranteed to hold its appeal for a very long time, it's hard to go wrong with a lust worthy Vette. America's favorite sports car has carried iconic looks with desirable performance for decades and proves to be a platform that can fit the tastes of any enthusiast. This slick '65 Corvette roadster is the perfect representative of classic style and modern, big block power. Mixing a massive GM Performance Parts ZZ572 crate engine with modern suspension and the classic lines of a C2 Sting Ray, it's a car that will be a hit wherever it goes!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Completely stripped and built with nearly all new parts from a 3-year build completed in 2008, then fresh out of a re-paint in June of 2016, this glossy roadster is dressed in a smooth coat of white 2-stage that's accented with a bright red Stinger Stripe. That stripe, fashioned on a hood that was modeled specifically from 1967-style bonnets, has been modified to fit the big crate motor that lies beneath and also serves as the air cleaner for the engine. The cowl induction sits a couple inches higher than an OE spec stinger hood, not only being completely functional, but also providing a muscular appearance to warn any would-be competitors. Traditional chrome trim and badges dress the smooth fiberglass panels that display even gaps all around. When the weather takes a turn for not-so-sunny conditions, a white vinyl top erects with ease and protects the driver and passenger from the elements. And underneath those time-honored fender vents are familiar heat shields that line the custom, side-exit exhaust.

ENGINE

When you want to make a statement with a resto-mod Corvette, usually an LS motor of either variation will be enough to impress. But the builder of this '65 wanted to take things up a notch and stuffed in a massive GM Performance Parts ZZ572. Twisting out 621 horsepower and 650 lb./ft. of torque from forged internals, the ZZ572 is quoted as "The most powerful big-block street engine from Chevrolet Performance." With colossal power like that, you can imagine the motor itself must be colossal as well. That's why the builders had to exaggerate the aforementioned stinger scoop. Lift that hood and you're greeted by a big Demon carburetor that is sealed off when the hood is shut closed. An electric Holley HP 125 fuel pump feeds fuel to the 572, while an aluminum Be Cool radiator keeps the engine temps in check. Exhaust gasses are sent through a 3.5'' exhaust that sounds absolutely sinister at idle or under revs. And a March serpentine system reliably spins the ancillary components.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Mated to that 9.4 liters of displacement is a TKO-600 5-speed manual transmission that transfers power to a C4 Corvette rear and carbon fiber half shafts. That rear end is supported by C4 suspension with Bilstein shocks and high performance composite springs from Vette Brakes and Products. Supplementing all of the modern hardware is a modified chassis by Newman Car Creations that mounts power C4 brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors. Making sure all of that go and braking power gets put to good use is a staggered set of polished C7 Z06 style wheels that are wrapped with 245/45/ZR17 front and 285/40/ZR18 rear Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires.

INTERIOR

Inside, the passengers are welcomed to a vivid red leather interior that incorporates bucket seats, which appear to be out of a late model Corvette, with power adjustment for the driver. The traditional dash houses Auto Meter Ultra-Comp Pro-Lite gauges that monitor speed, revs, oil pressure, volts, engine temperature, and fuel levels. In the center of that dash is controls for the Vintage Air conditioning, a 'Corvette' branded analog clock, and a receiver for the stereo system. That stereo is powered by a Kicker amplifier and sends signals to modern speakers and takes input from a 10-disc CD changer or the digital AM/FM receiver. Connecting the driver to the road is a wood trimmed and chrome 4-spoke Flaming River steering wheel and a conventional chrome shifter.
