This is a spectacular example from the Mercury Custom series, as seen by its script on the sides and is further revealed by its VIN designation. It is of one of the most desirable convertibles of the '50s. Starting with a California body, a complete frame-off restoration was performed. The car is finished in a two-tone blue over white exterior with a black convertible top and new chrome accents. Additional exterior features include fender skirts, wide whitewall tires and dual exhaust.

Since the completion of the restoration the owner has held the car to a rigid maintenance schedule. The engine has roughly 500-miles on it since being rebuilt. The transmission, rebuilt at the same time, was overhauled to the tune of $2,500 which included new cooler lines. The careful maintenance program has also meant the replacement of a ball joint and windshield; as well as a power window motor. In short, thousands have been spent to keep this car operating as it should following the restoration. The Mercury features a matching interior with radio and the addition of seatbelts. Power equipment on the car includes steering and brakes. This 1956 Mercury Custom Convertible is one of 2,311 produced in 1956, compared to the 7,762 Montclair Convertibles built the same year. It’s an investment that will be a joy to drive.
