For Sale: 1971 Plymouth Duster in Manitowoc, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. The 340 Duster is one of the most desirable A-body Mopars out there. Available from 1970-73, it represents the pinnacle of Duster performance. This 1971 model represents the lowest production year with only 12,886 being made. It is a beautiful car with its numbers-matching motor and original build sheet, along with many nice options including a factory console and air conditioning. This Duster spent much of its life in Florida and is a solid rust-free car throughout. It has been repainted its original color of Bright Blue Poly, while the graphics were changed from black to white. It also received dual hood scoops with 340 emblems. The bumpers, moldings, and grille are all in fantastic condition. The car also wears vintage slotted aluminum wheels with Cooper tires. As mentioned, this car retains its original H-code 340ci 275hp motor which was the biggest setup available for the 1971 Duster. This is mated to a Torqueflite 727 "heavy duty" transmission, which is also original to the car. The 8-3/4" rear end has been changed from the factory 3.23 gears to a more highway-friendly 2.76 ratio. Factory options also included power steering and power brakes which make the car more user friendly. The interior is in great shape with many new parts. The high back bucket seats look very sharp with their grey-and-black seat covers. So do the dash and factory center console with their simulated woodgrain inserts. The door panels, carpeting, and headliner all look terrific too. All gauges work, as do the horn, parking brake, and factory 3-speed wipers. The original radio remains in place while the sound system has been upgraded to a Custom Autosound unit with remote control. And finally, the factory heat and air conditioning are fully functional! You have to hit a few car shows to see a nice 340 Duster like this one. There just aren't that many out there, especially with their original motor, fender tag, and build sheet. And not only is an A-body (Duster, Dart, etc.) more fun to drive than the gigantic B-body cars (Charger, Road Runner, etc.), but their size and price make it much easier to get in your garage.
