A quality documented restoration and engine build adhering to the originality of this distinctive coupe body style sets it apart from many other "Shoebox" Fords. The vintage appeal of this nostalgia hot rod is enhanced by rebuilding the 1950 drivetrain. Starting with the 239 block, Flathead City of Oregon (built engines for Bob Drake and Mike Wolfe of American Pickers) built this hopped-up period correct gem (w/DVD photo documentation and engine pictured on their website) as follows: bore/hone to 3 5/16" (1/8" over), stroked to 4" with ground Merc crank (now 276 c i ), Ross forged pistons, valve seats with Isky valve change kit for 400 JR cam and Johnson lifters, new timing gear set, new oil pump, Offenhauser intake and aluminum finned heads, three period Ford 8BA Holley 2bbl carbs (note: engine currently running on center carb for fuel efficiency; 3 carb set-up is easily restored by removing blocking plates), new Holley electric fuel pump and pressure regulator, new floatless fuel sender, 12V conversion w/in-cabin battery disconnect switch, Mallory Pertronics electronic ignition, new fan and shroud, Red's Headers, functioning cut-out Lake Pipes, Smithy's 50's style mufflers. The transmission and original option Borg Warner over-drive (with new relay) were rebuilt, fly wheel machined for new clutch/pressure plate, new differential seals, new wiring harness and fuse panel, LED taillights, rebuilt heater and control valve, rebuilt steering box with new worm gear and shaft, boosted dual master (automatic vacuum pump and tank in trunk as well as Phoenix Gold XS 2200 Amplifier), new front disc brakes with residual valve, new Fatman 2 1/2" dropped steering knuckles mated with custom steering arms (to improve steering geometry), and tie rod end kit. The impressive interior was installed with Dynamat, new carpet, upholstery, headliner, visors, refinished garnish mouldings and dash, pillar interior lights, new horn ring, electric wipers, etc.. The original instrument cluster was updated with Dakota Digital to include a tach. The original radio is present but not working; clock is working. The professionally prepared stock body from a dry climate has PPG base coat/clear (with some flaws) dressed with all correct trim pieces including bright window mouldings, new Ford emblems, and rechromed bumpers. 3,800 miles since engine build (2,500 + current odometer reading).
