For Sale: 1976 Jaguar XJ6 in Boise, Idaho

Vehicle Description

The XJ6C coupes are the rarest production Jaguars ever made. These coupes were only made for three years ('75-'76-'77) with only about 6,000 total made, of which only about 3,000 were imported into the U.S. Experts estimate that only about 200 coupes survive. Rarity is one reason why the coupes are so collectible. Other reasons include: the fact that the XJ6C coupe was the last car designed by Sir William Lyons, founder of Jaguar and designer of the iconic Jags of the 20th century; the fact that these pillarless coupes are just flat-out gorgeous; and that these coupes drive like a dream. My car is an original survivor in good driving condition. Miles show 89,xxx on the original engine and prior owner told me that these are original miles. Given that the interior is original, and the driver's seat does not have splits or excessive wear in the leather, I'd guess that this is correct -- that miles are 89K and not 189K. I've owned the car for four years and have sorted it out. It runs as it should, and drives very well. I put on 6 new shocks (2 front, 4 rear) and new tires. I replaced all door and side window seals. I replaced rear window motors so windows open and close as they should. The car turns heads and melts hearts. She's like an aging supermodel; she's so fundamentally gorgeous that you don't see her flaws. If you're going to put her under a microscope looking for flaws (very rude), here's what you'll find: - Paint is original color but is an older repaint. There are faded spots, some checking, a few bubbles. But as photos show, she looks good at 5+ feet. - Interior is original and so shows some wear in leather seats. I appreciate the patina as a driver car, and the original leather smell is intoxicating. - She drips a few drops of oil, and trans fluid. Not enough to require topping off, or justifying replacing seals in both my and my 80-year-old Jag specialist's humble opinion. - Climate control works as it should, but A/C doesn't blow cold. This is undiagnosed. All other electrical features work as they should, including clock. - If you know anything about these coupes, they all have some rust since the rear windows/c-pillars weren't reliably water-tight. My car has less-than-average amount of rust for these cars...some surface bubbles on rear quarter panels, c-pillars, and under back seat pan. Restoration expert looked at rust and declared it "not that bad". - All chrome is perfect. I would characterize this car as a fun & oh-so-stylish driver as it sits, with solid potential for restoration if/when a buyer should choose. I have too many projects right now, and so I'm reluctantly letting this car go to someone who understands and appreciates these rarest of Jaguars. I'm asking what I have in the car, and so I'm not going to be too flexible on price. Besides, I have mixed feelings about letting this girl go. Car is located in Boise.
