For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air in Conroe, Texas

Vehicle Description

The current owner had known about this 1957 Chevrolet for more than 40 years before finally acquiring it from the widow, whose husband had passed on. The previous owner had spent almost $40,000 on the mechanical and electrical restoration alone. All of the suspension parts are new; the motor, the fuel injection unit, transmission, rear end, fuel lines, gas tank and electrical wiring were rebuilt or replaced. Nothing had been done to the exterior of the car. The car was all black at the time. The current owner was delighted to find out that the car originally had a white top and black bottom. It was completely disassembled the car and stripped to bare metal. The frame and undercarriage were cleaned and re-painted. He repaired several previously repaired areas the correct way (with lead). The body and parts were then Epoxied and many coats of primer were applied while block sanding between coats. Then a black base coat, clear coat was applied and more block sanding down to a 2000 grit then final rub and polish. They installed new date coded glass, stainless, chrome, new rubber seals and new interior. All of the gauges have been cleaned and rebuilt. New correct size radio tires were installed. On August 14, 2015, the car was shown at the The 44th Pacific NW Vintage Chevrolet Club of America Meet to have the car judged. It scored 997 points out of 1000. This was the first time that the car was judged. With that high score, it won the Gold Award and its first Junior Oval badge. Also at the same show it won People's Choice "Best 1950s" and the General Motors of Canada Award "Best of the Meet." For the final award, all of the Judges selected it for the Best of Show 8 Cylinder Award. This award given by the judges made the car eligible for the national Best of the Best V/8 Award for 2015. This car is a fuel injected 283 cubic inch V/8, 250 HP with a power glide transmission and a 3:55 rear end. The car is as it came from the factory, with the correct exterior colors of Onyx Black and India Ivory White top with red/black interior. This is a fairly early production car with a VIN# of VC 57N181268 which means that it was built in Norwood, Ohio, around the third week of April. All of the numbers are close to that date. The Motor # is F402FJ April 2nd and was built in Flint, Michigan. Heads are # 3731539 March. The fuel injection unit is April #1395 and model #7014520.
