Essentially a "face-lifted" TD, the MG TF retains the exemplary British sports car look. This was no mistake on MG's part, as the prewar look was the root of the company's success after WWII. Superseded in April of 1955 by the MGA, the TF was produced to the count of 9,602 units in two years, and was even a competitive privateer entrant in many races throughout Europe and North America. The timeless design is always well-received and appreciated.
This MG TF has been the beneficiary of a ground-up restoration and all body panels are free of rust and collision damage and are displayed with an excellent fit and finish. The dark green paint (quite similar to British Racing Green) is reported with excellent luster and is very nicely detailed showing no signs of ageing or wear.
The undercarriage and underbody components, including the frame, are in excellent restored condition; also without signs of rust or prior damage. The elements are cleaned and refinished. The engine bay and its associated mechanisms are also in excellent condition and well-detailed.
The glass windscreen (which folds down) is clear and free of chips, cracks and scratches; the plastic side curtains and rear window are reported in excellent condition also. The chromed trim components and detail elements are primarily in excellent restored condition, with the windshield frame and light bezels showing slight signs of aging.
The biscuit leather bucket seat interior, along with the detailed dashboard and steering wheel are in excellent restored condition. This can also be said for the side panels, door panels, gauges and various rubber seals. The black Stayfast soft-top is also top-flight in presentation.
The MG TF is powered by an inline 57-hp four-cylinder engine that is paired with a four-speed manual transmission; the car is presented as being an excellent running car that drives as one would expect from a car in such fine condition. The car is well-restored, correctly presented, and also exhibits the factory steel wheels and matching rear-mounted spare that are such signatures of this acclaimed British standard.
