Vehicle Description
Exotic Classics proudly presents a wonderful 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner finished in a Flame Red and Colonial White two tone exterior and interior. The odometer shows 7,868 miles that have been put on the car after a restoration which still looks fantastic today. This Skyliner is powered by a Thunderbird Special 312 cid 245 horsepower engine with two 4bbl carbs, dual exhaust and an automatic transmission. Additionally, the Skyliner has air-conditioning, power steering, power brakes, dual mirrors, Town & Country AM pushbutton radio, Fender skirts, sports spare wheel carrier (Continental Kit), factory wheel covers, whitewall tires, plus its signature power retractable hardtop. The car is well sorted and everything functions properly. In mid 1957, Ford introduced the first ever mass produced retractable hardtop convertible. This innovative design was originally intended for the 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II, however, the skyrocketing development costs of the Mark II prohibited the retractable hardtops application, so it was picked up by the Ford division instead. The 1957 Retractable contributed to Fords success by pushing the engineering and stylistic envelope further than competing companies. The 1957 is considered the most desirable year for the Retractable and this car will certainly please.
