For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

This is one of those Camaros that demands a closer look. Not only does it sparkle under the studio lights, but it packs a thundering 427 cubic inch V8, all wrapped in a gorgeous RS/SS package that's quite correct. Oh, and I should mention the upgrades underneath that also make it wicked fun to drive and comfortable under any circumstances.

You know this is a special car just at first glance. Complete with SS hardware and RS style, it's the ideal combination of features that make for a unique F-body. With a high-quality restoration that was completed quite recently, it has been driven just a handful of miles and still looks extremely fresh and beautifully restored. That glossy black paint looks amazing on the expertly refinished bodywork, which is far better than it was originally and is only possible with the infusion of massive sums of cash. They kept to the factory specs, so that means a stock hood with chrome velocity stack inserts, a ducktail spoiler, and hidden RS-spec headlights, all of which work beautifully with the white SS stripes streaking down its flanks. All the chrome is so bright that you'll want to carry a rag with you to keep it spotless and the stance is exactly right.

The deluxe houndstooth interior is beautifully finished and shows off this particular Camaro's luxury/performance mission. The seats, of course, are freshly upholstered with correct seat covers, the carpets are new, the door panels are neatly finished, and the back seat has probably never been used. The original gauges are in place, including the console-mounted auxiliary dials and the three spoke steering wheel hangs on a tilt column. There's also a Hurst cue ball and shifter for the 4-speed manual, which is really the best way to enjoy your hot rod Camaro. As I mentioned, this car also includes goodies like A/C, an AM/FM/CD stereo radio, power steering, and power brakes. Given the quality of the rest of the car, the trunk looks a little bare, but a correct mat is inexpensive and easy to get, and at least you know there are no nasty surprises waiting for you underneath.

We don't know what engine originally lived in this Camaro, but today you'll find a 427 cubic inch crate motor that looks like it was born there. The burly big block totally fills the engine bay and it doesn't pull any punches with a big 4-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, and those beautiful black valve covers. There's a big aluminum radiator up front, probably mandatory with that much engine, and a few splashes of chrome and color really make it look detailed. The A/C has been upgraded to R134a refrigerant and the aforementioned Muncie 4-speed transmission powers a 12-bolt rear. The suspension has been fortified with traction bars and long tube headers feed a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe and Magnaflow stainless mufflers to replace the original "deep tone" mufflers. 17-inch Torque Thrusts give it an aggressive look and carry staggered 205/50/17 front and 235/55/17 rear performance radials.

Beautifully finished and ready to rock, this is an unusual, fast, fun Camaro that will make everyone at the local cruise night very jealous. The numbers '427' are legendary, and seeing it in a fantastic black Camaro like this is pretty impressive. Call today!
