The Cadillac Series Sixty Special made its debut in 1938. This model was to be the most luxurious version available for an owner driven car without the length and appearance of a limousine. The opulent broadcloths and hardwoods of the Fleetwood limousine were incorporated within a beautifully distinctive four-door sedan.

New front-end styling introduced Cadillac’s trademark rectangular eggcrate grille while fenders incorporated headlights keeping with the styling trends of the day. Sixty Specials featured front fenders that gracefully flowed into the front doors, a styling cue that would be widely-copied. Nineteen forty-one marked the final year of the unique Sixty Special styling originating in the landmark Bill Mitchell design of 1938.

By 1941, the Series 60 Special had evolved, according to many, into one of the most elegant four-door sedan models ever built. The front fenders are flared into the front doors and the rear fender skirts are integral to the styling of the car.

The serial number of this 1941 Cadillac shows that this is a Fleetwood Series 41-60S on the 126-inch wheelbase and has the uncommon roll-up divider window. The dark blue metallic paint is reported to be in excellent condition, while the interior Bedford cord upholstery is thought to be original and also in excellent condition. The rear seating area is luxurious and as comfortable as a living room sofa. Among the features on this highly regarded Cadillac are foglights, rear fender skirts, factory wheel covers, wide whitewall tires, radio, exquisite interior and exterior trim details, excellent chrome, a “near-perfect” steering wheel, dual side mirrors and a hood ornament that doubles as the hood latch release. Cadillac’s 346-cid, 150-hp V-8 engine was the source of power, in this case, with an automatic transmission and contributing greatly to this epitome of 1941 American automotive luxury and style.

The 1941 Cadillac Series Sixty Special Fleetwood Sedan is recognized as a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America and is a near-perfect platform for enjoying their tours.
