Vehicle Description
"Son of a Gun - just what the Corvette needed, more power!
Chevrolet has replaced last year's top-of-the-line 396-cu. in.
engine with a 427. According to the factory, horsepower remains
unchanged at 425, but torque has gone up from 415 lbs/ft. at 4000,
to 465 at the same rpm. We asked one Chevrolet man why the increase
in displacement and torque didn't have a parallel increase in
horsepower. "This was done primarily to save weight," he said, with
a twinkling eye; "you must remember that cast-iron is very heavy,
and by removing thirty cubic inches of it, we have made a
significant reduction in weight."" - From the 1965 Issue of Car and
Driver Magazine
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this very clean and original
example of the 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible for your
consideration. With many great documents to back the rich history
of this wonderful piece of American automotive history, we have the
pleasure to offer the original Protect-O-Plate, an original title
copy, the original invoice and even the first bill of sale made for
this Corvette! Now coming to the market from the second owner, this
vehicle shows only 38 miles since the full restoration which was
completed by Jeff Kennedy, a Corvette expert. Featuring what is
believed to be the original 427 4V V8 mated to the much preferred
4-speed manual transmission, this vehicle has the added benefit of
coming with both front and rear disc brakes as well. With fully
functioning power windows, the stock radio also working, clean
upholstery throughout and plenty of power to enjoy, this vehicle is
as nice inside as it is out and gives the owner a very nostalgic
feel behind the wheel. From the outside the vehicle shows very
stock as well with the standard knock-off wheels, the trim and
glass is all in good shape, the black vinyl convertible top is
standing tall and with its re-created factory color to the outside,
this is an excellent example of the rare convertible version of the
C2. Call or email us today for more information on this excellent
collector classic.
