This 1949 Packard 8 Station Sedan was purchased new by the publisher of an Albany, New York newspaper. The car was used around town, but primarily as the families “camp car” when they would holiday in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. The daughter of the publisher inherited the car and she later sold it in 1999. The next owner found a Boatwright to replace the wooden upper and lower tail gates and a few other pieces. The wood was stripped and treated with Tung oil. In 2012, ownership changed hands and the car was treated to a tune-up, re-chromed bumpers and the wood was sanded and treated with three coats of Tung oil. The Packard ran in the 2012 and 2013 Newport Hill Climbs. In 2016 the car was displayed at the Ault Park Concours in Cincinnati. The car is powered by a 327-cid straight eight-cylinder engine which is paired to a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The tan interior features front and rear bench seating and a radio. It is reported that the interior and mechanicals are original to the car and in working order.
