For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

In case you haven't noticed, we're having a lot of trouble here at Streetside Classics keeping early Mustangs in stock. If you're reading this, then this lovely 1965 Ford Mustang coupe didn't sell immediately upon arrival, which has about a 50% chance of happening each time a new pony shows up. If there's one car you can bank on, it's the Ford Mustang.

You can't go wrong with factory colors and this one appears to be wearing code H Caspian Blue, which sure gives this coupe an elegant, upscale look that gets noticed. We like it when early Mustangs are honest, and this one doesn't need stripes, scoops, or wings to stand out, instead relying on the famous Mustang look that's one of the most beloved in the entire automotive world. Workmanship is quite good, and starting with a good southern car never hurts. The quarters are straight and clean, the doors fit well, and details stand out against the shiny paint. Check out the sharp crease that frames the side cove, the chrome insert, and the beautifully finished chrome bumpers that glitter. GT-style fog lamps were added up front and there's a GT valence out back for the twin exhaust tips, but we like that they skipped the stripes for a cleaner look. This car totally nails it.

The Mustang's interior looks great in any form, and the Parchment upholstery looks dressy when combined with that dark blue paint. It looks like most of the interior soft parts are new, including the seat covers, carpets, and door panels, and they all match the factory stuff exactly. The original dash carries factory instruments including a freshly rebuilt speedometer with bright markings, as well as a column-mounted tachometer and auxiliary gauges under the dash. The aftermarket console and floor-mounted automatic shifter work well together, and the A/C has been neatly integrated into the dash instead of hung underneath, giving this Mustang a more polished look than many of its more basic siblings. Entertainment comes from a newer digital AM/FM radio hidden out of sight, while the original AM unit keeps it looking stock. The trunk carries a correct mat, full-sized spare, and a matching tire cover.

This is a real C-code car, but the 289 under the hood has been given a comprehensive makeover to the tune of about 325 horsepower. There's a lopey solid-lifter camshaft inside, a big Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor on top, and it hasn't been used much since it was completed 1000 miles ago. The rest looks pretty stock, including the open-element air cleaner and Ford Blue engine. The A/C system uses a modern compressor and R134a refrigerant and works as intended and there's a newer dual master cylinder with power brake booster on the firewall. The C4 3-speed automatic is quick-witted enough to be a great dance partner when the road starts to twist and the door tag says it carries 2.80 gears, making this a great highway cruiser with the A/C. Disc brakes were added up front and the rear drums were recently rebuilt, many of the suspension parts are relatively fresh, and the dual exhaust sounds great. Styled steel wheels look great and wear fat 215/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials.

So if history's any indicator, the clock is ticking on this nicely finished Mustang. If you're interested, you really need to call today!
