For Sale: 1970 Land Rover Series IIA in Essex Junction, Vermont

Vehicle Description

1970 Land Rover Series IIA SWB that has been tastefully updated to include additional power, style and comfort - yet still retains its rugged looks and functionality. This Land Rover has recently undergone a 10-year, no-expense spared, nut and bolt frame-off restoration that is fully documented with pictures, documentation, labor, and receipts covering the entire process. Everything on the truck has either been rebuilt, upgraded or replaced with NOS and upgraded parts. The cost of the restoration alone was upwards of $80,000 including parts, plus the initial cost of the Land Rover.

The information below highlights only a fraction of the work completed on this amazing vehicle but the photos clearly speak to the attention to detail and the quality of the restoration:

Engine/ Chassis/ Running Gear: New Turner HP motor and unleaded, high compression head, fed by a Weber 2 barrel carburetor and a Pierce intake manifold and NRP stainless exhaust. The truck sits atop a new Marsland galvanized frame and rides on Old Man Emu shocks and Rocky Mountain parabolic springs. The truck has 5 BFG Mud-Terrain tires on 16 inch steel wheels. The transmission, transfer case and Fairey overdrive have all been rebuilt and resealed, the front axle is a Genuine NOS replacement unit and the rear axle has been completely rebuilt and resealed. The steering components and the entire brake system are new or rebuilt parts. The brakes have been upgraded to larger (109) units. The vehicle also has a new fuel tank, pump and plumbing. The IIA (2A) also has a new original style wiring harness to power all of the updated electrical components listed below. The paint is in superb condition, showing no wear as it has only been driven 1,000 miles since undergoing a complete restoration. The body trim, windshield frame and all other galvanized parts have all been re-galvanized and are like new.

The vehicle also sports a beautifully restored full safari top with alpine windows, vents and a tropical sunshade. All the windows have new rubber gaskets and weather-stripping. The front driver and passenger windows are the Defender-style windows which move forward and backwards independently as opposed to the original style uppers. The vehicle has a deluxe bonnet with spare tire carrier. The vehicle also has all new anti-burst locking door handles, and all new lighting (headlights, side markers, brake lights, rear directional and reverse light - the original chrome license plate light was replaced with new internals and retrofitted into the original chrome housing.

The interior has been fitted with Exmoor Hi-Back Seats for comfort and inertia seat belts for both of the front seats. It also comes with Rovers North door panels and a black vinyl wrapped center console. The vehicle has the original side facing, rear folding bench seats. They have not been reinstalled but will be included in the sale. The truck has the powerful (20,000 BTU) Rovers North Mt Mansfield heater and more!
