With a limited production, Lamborghini’s mid-engined Diablo was the first car by the manufacturer capable of attaining a top speed in excess of the magic 200-mph mark. Lamborghini officially replaced the Countach when it unveiled the Diablo in Monte Carlo in January of 1990. The Diablo was introduced under Lamborghini’s brief period of Chrysler ownership; refining its layout, smoothing out the lines, and improving occupant accommodations. The car was designed by Marcello Gandini, who had penned its two predecessors.
From an estate with approximately 13,000 kilometers; this Diablo has a tan interior and is driven by Lambo’s 48-valve, 5.7-liter V-12 engine rated at 492-hp matched to a five-speed manual gearbox. Power windows and four-wheel disc brakes were on all Diablos; this example also has an Alpine stereo unit, Michelin tires and factory-style OZ “telephone dial” alloy wheels. The Chrysler-influenced design of the interior offered comfort and room that a Countach owner might find difficult to imagine. Both settings let you know that serious driving is always optional.
