On February 24th, 1968 AMC introduced the AMX (American Motors Experimental) at the Chicago Auto Show. The car was debuted as a half year model. It was a unique car, one designed to appeal to both muscle and sports car buyers. AMC Vice President, Vic Raviolo, famously described the AMX as, “The Walter Mitty Ferrari.” The AMX was the first two-seater, steel-bodied American car built since the 1957 Ford Thunderbird. For the 1968 model year, AMC produced 6,725 AMXs. AMC continued to produce the AMX through 1970.

This 1968 AMC AMX is presented in a beautiful copper with black racing stripes. The car is powered by a 390-cid, 315-hp V-8 engine paired to an automatic transmission. The car rides on Firestone Deluxe Champion tires mounted on Magnum 500 wheels. The tan interior features bucket seats separated by a console, in-dash tachometer, tilt steering wheel, as well as an AM radio with eight-track player. Driver aides include power steering and brakes.
