For Cadillac's 75th anniversary, 1977 saw the introduction of a newly redesigned line of Cadillac DeVilles. These new Cadillacs were nine inches shorter, four inches narrower, and 1/2 ton lighter than the previous year, but with a larger trunk and a higher roofline which gave passengers more headroom and legroom. Under the hood, a redesigned 425ci engine which produced 180 horsepower and 320 ft. lbs. of torque replaced the older 500ci engine that had fallen to 190hp as a result of smog restrictions. Standard features for this model included a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic transmission, variable-ratio power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, power door locks, and quite a few features which had previously been options, including Soft-Ray glass, and a six-way power driver's seat. This '77 Coupe DeVille was produced the third week of December, 1976, at Cadillac's Detroit plant and shows only 69,129 original miles on the odometer. This highly original coupe still retains its original Crimson paint, Dark Red Metallic textured vinyl roof, and optional Antique Medium Saffron leather interior, all of which show remarkably well for their age and make this car a true low-mileage survivor. Options for this car include the Coupe DeVille Cabriolet package with vinyl roof, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, door edge guards, wire wheel covers, front and rear floor mats, illuminated and signal-seeking AM/FM radio.
