Vehicle Description

: My Falcon Sprint is one of 4602 Sprint convertibles built , production started January of 1963 as part of Ford's " Total Performance" 1963 1/2 product line and ended July of 1963, a six month production run. Of just 4602, an educated guess would be half were 4 speed's , very few exist 53 years later , this Sprint was built 7.19.63, the very last month of production. Amazingly, a previous California Ford dealership employee maintained it for 44 years! It was shipped to the San Jose district sales office and had been in CA. until 2015. The Sprints were built to accommodate the the 260 V8, with the addition of torque box reinforcement, heavy duty suspension, heavy duty brakes, and thicker gauge front sub-frame ,lending it well to performance modification, Holman Moody prepared Sprints resulted in class wins in the famed 1963 Monte Carlo Ralley. Currently, a potent, period correct, 1968 302, resides in the engine bay, smooth , responsive, with a beefy torque curve, it is a pleasure to row through the upgrade of a world class Tremec T-5, 5 speed, The 302 installed some time in the early 70's, now displace's 308 CID has approximately 500 miles on the precision machined seasoned block rebuild that includes balancing, H.O. heads, hard seats , forged pistons, moly rings, high volume oil pump, Competition Cams kit, aluminum intake ,ceramic coated exhaust headers,Pertronix ignition, new free flow dual exhaust, and 10" diaphragm clutch, fresh " World Class" T-5 five speed by Modern Drive Line . The heavy duty suspension, has been upgraded as well, with 1" front sway bar, 3/4" rear bar, air shocks, 7" wide positive offset wheels, and sixty's style traction masters . Rare factory power steering , offer's amazingly flat, sure footed handling, for a 53 year old machine ! To better put it into perspective,it is 300 lbs. lighter and produces more torque then a 1969 Boss 302 Mustang. Many are surprised of the fact that the chassis (unibody), of the 1963 Sprint served as the basis of the 1964 1/2 Mustang and 1965 thru 1966 Shelby GT350 . Standard Sprint brakes are 10.80" by 2.25",offer the stopping power, while maintaining originality. Recent refresh includes new top, "Sprint" tach, padded dash,( standard on Sprint), front seat foams and covers, front and rear window regulator rollers, and insulators (fuzzys), door panels, most weather stripping, wind lace, re-chromed A pillar trim, and much more. Doors lock with the original key, power top, heater ,dash lights ,turn signals ,speedometer, water temp, fuel gauge ,factory foot operated wiper washer system, seat adjusters , emergency brake , horns, are in working order with the exception of the AM radio. polished stainless trim is original to the car and is in exceptional condition. Floors, rockers, pinch welds ,door bottoms, fenders, solid and rust free. While not perfect, the paint has been described as better then driver quality.
