Plymouth introduced the GTX in 1967. The car was based on a Belvedere with the Sport Satellite trim. It was branded the “Gentleman’s Musclecar.” After only one year, the GTX was given a completely new look with the rigid design of 1967 giving way to the more flowing lines of the 1968 model. The GTX was offered in two body styles, a two-door hardtop or a two-door convertible. For the 1968 model year Plymouth produced only a reported 1,026 examples of the GTX convertible, compared to nearly 18,000 hardtops. The owner shares that of the GTX convertibles, only 375 were fitted with the four-speed manual transmission like this car.

This restored GTX was earlier obtained from a private collection and is finished in its correct "bright blue metallic" with white side stripes, matching white interior with front “buddy” seat, white boot and white soft-top. The presentation is quite similar to, and equally appealing, as a GTX featured in factory literature of 1968. The 440-cid, 375-hp Super Commando V-8 engine, Hurst-shifter transmission and 3.54:1 rear end are all attributed as being correct for the car. Additional features include a factory tach, 26 inch radiator, power steering, Sony CD, BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires and factory-style chrome-plated road wheels.
