Vehicle Description
The Harley-Davidson Sportster, introduced in 1957, is the original American hot-rod motorcycle. It brought an irresistible combination of power and agility from the flat-track to the street. More than fifty years later, the Sportster has stayed true to its roots even while evolving technologically. Always a cool, fun ride, this motorcycle offers riders no-nonsense V-Twin performance and nimble handling.
The XL Evolution V-Twin engine is powered by Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI), and vibration is reduced by being rubber-mounted in the frame. The engine is tuned to deliver power over a broad range for outstanding street performance. The transmission and engine share a common die-cast case. The final drive is a quiet and durable carbon fiber-reinforced belt.
Consider this colorful review by The Dirkster, gently edited, on
"Light, narrow, agile, with great flickability. No lumbering behemoth geezerglide bagger half-car size bike here. The Sportster engages, embraces, empowers and involves you. This bike OOZES soul with a connectedness to place all the way back to 1957. This from one who rode them for near 40 years and turned wrenches as a professional mechanic. My 08 Sporty is supremely reliable, does not leak a drop and looks like James Dean. The EFI, rubber mounted engine Sportster is the best motorcycle on the planet in my opinion. And that's all I have to say about that."
