For Sale: 1949 Maserati A6 1500 in Huntington Station, New York

Vehicle Description

1949 MASERATI A6 1500 COUPE
--Dark Blue with Red leather/velour interior and Red carpeting, Aluminium lightweight body by Pininfarina, Original colours, one of 61 examples produced, Mille Miglia Eligible, Fully restored in Italy, Maserati Certified, FIVA Approved.

In September 1948, the rolling chassis was sent to Carrozerria Pininfarina to be clothed in the elegant lightweight alloy bodywork. Completed and delivered to its first owner on May 3rd 1949, Vittorio Giol of San Polo Piave, Italy, a winemaker, finished in dark blue with red leather and velour interior, the exact same color combination that it presents today.

In 1953, the A6 was sold to Lemual D Ladd, a US Serviceman based in Munich, Germany who kept the car until 1956. He sold it back to Italy in 1956 to Mr. Federico Lambetano of Padova, who retained the car until 1963, at which point ownership passed to Mr. David A Chopourian of Billerica, Massachusetts and exported to the USA.

Mr. Chopourian enjoyed the A6 for an incredible forty years and finally in June 2003, it was offered by him in Hemmings as a “Garage find needing full restoration”.

The car was then sold to Austria in 2003 and returned to Europe, and circa 2008, it was sent to Italy for a full restoration by Bluccino (di Baldone Luciano), refinished in its original colors. The restoration is documented by photos on file.

In September 2011, this A6 was listed in Registro Storico Del Maserati Club #162 and in October of the same year was shown at the Auto e Moto d'Epoca, Padova, on Bluccino's display stand.

In March 2012, the A6 was also shown at the Retro Classics show, Stuttgart, Germany, by Mr. P. Wiesner, after which the current owner acquired the car and the A6 returned back to the USA.

During the current collector's ownership, he has enjoyed a number of events including successfully finishing the 2013 Mille Miglia as well as being invited to participate at 'The Quail 100th Anniversary of Maserati' in 2014.

This very early Maserati is the first of the post-war production Maserati’s, one of just 61 cars manufactured, Mille Miglia eligible and an important part of Maserati history. The A6 is powered by Maserati’s 1497 CC six and retains its original engine. A 5-speed gearbox has been fitted for use in events, but the original 4-speed gearbox is supplied with the car. In addition, this example has Maserati “Classiche” Certification book, FIVA Class A3 Passport and the Maserati Club “Gold” plaque.

A historically significant Maserati with a known and clear history, this A6 is eligible for many important historic events worldwide and extremely rare, available for immediate viewing and on display in our showroom.
