Vehicle Description
1963 Dodge Polara
To compete with the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Galaxy, Dodge created
the Polara. This began as their full size model but in later years
was reduced in size to be a more intermediate sized car. Fitting
with the 60's the Polara was named after a reference to a star
which went with the excitement surrounding the Space Race at the
time. This 63 hardtop model is a very clean classic that has
undergone a complete restoration. Prior to being restored the car
had 79,552 miles and since completed has been driven 350. The
restoration involved every component and the car received a nice
Red paint job that has a very clean finish. All of the glass was
replaced and the stainless/chrome replaced or repaired as needed.
All of the metal work is in great condition with a nice shine. The
lights are all working properly including the fog lights that these
cars had uniquely inset into their front grill. Matching Red
factory wheels with hubcaps are in place and wrapped with Hankook
Optimo 225/70/15 tires.
Powering the car is a 426 Max Wedge Super Stock motor that was
bored .030 over. The motor puts out plenty of power and
incorporates after market Wedge cast steel heads, a cross ram, two
four barrel factory racing carburetors, a comp roller cam and
rockers, MSD ignition box and MSD distributor. Keeping it always
running cool is the added Be Cool aluminum radiator and electric
fan. The car has super stock factory exhaust with factory cutouts
that deliver a very nice sound. All new S/S gas and brake lines
were used in the rebuilt as well as a new inline tube and new
emergency brake cable. Paired with the motor is a 727 Automatic
push button transmission and 3:90 posi rear end.
The interior of the car is done in Red which nicely matches the
exterior paint. The vinyl upholstery work looks like new and the
car utilizes a split bench seat up front with center fold down arm
rest. The dash utilizes all of the original components except for
an added underdash gauge pod. The only non working feature on the
car is found in the interior with the radio which is not currently
working but is the original radio. A tilt column was added in front
of the driver and painted to match the rest. If you like mopars and
you like unique you aren't going to find something as cool as this
classic Polara. These are rare cars you don't see very often and
the Max Wedge motor makes it even more of a conversation starter.
It runs and drives just as great as it looks so check it out while
it's still available.
