In 1954 the GMC truck line received its first redesign since 1948. The familiar GMC grille design remained while the most notable changes to the trucks included a new curved windshield (no longer split) and larger fenders. Chromed bumpers and grilles made a return as Korean War restrictions on materials were eased. Under the hood, the trucks received an increase in horsepower over the outgoing model. Changes weren’t limited to the exterior, as the GMC trucks for 1954 received color-coordinated interiors, a first for GMC.
This 1954 GMC Series 101 1/2-Ton Pickup has benefitted from a frame-off restoration completed in 1992. The truck is presented in dark green with a white cab top; and rides on blackwall tires with factory wheel covers. The exterior features chromed bumpers, side-mounted spare and an oak bed with a natural finish. The GMC is powered by a 235-cid, 123-hp straight six-cylinder engine which is paired to a column-shift three-speed manual transmission. The interior features a green bench seat with seatbelts.
Included in the sale are photos of the restoration as well as service receipts. The restoration on this truck was completed to a high standard and is presented very well.
