Take a good long look at this 1998 Ford Mustang convertible. More than just an awesome body kit, this is a magazine project star that was given a full motor swap to go from a respectable V6 to a thumpin' Modular two-valve short block V8. Yes, real speed and style can be this affordable.
With a body kit that includes a new front bumper, rocker panels, spoiler, tonneau, crystal clear headlights, and an aggressive fiberglass hood, this car has a long and smooth Saleen-like appearance. The metallic silver paint gives this sunshine-friendly droptop a terrific sparkle the moment daylight hits it. The black roll bar adds some rigidity, and quite frankly, it's a bold proclamation because everyone knows only serious speed machines gets this addition. With this black bar out in the open or with the black folding roof in place, they both coordinate nicely with the new sequential rear taillights (always fun to se on a Ford.) The final custom touch is adding a bit of good 'ol American style chrome in a few bold places like the billet grille and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior takes the stock Mustang and adds some nice upgrades. It starts with comfortable leather bucket and matching two-tone seating in the rear. This is a loaded convertible with features like air conditioning, power windows, power locks, dual air bags, power seats, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with powered subwoofer in the trunk. This open top's interior is truly meant to show off, so the black and gray two-tone is complemented with carbon fiber appearance pieces on the center console, glovebox, steering wheel, door panels, and plenty of other trim throughout the car.
While the interior and exterior will get plenty of attention, it's under the hood that will really draw the crowds. This Mustang was part of a magazine feature about getting the most power out of you budget 'Stang, and so the original V6 drivetrain was swapped for a Modular Motorsports Racing short block V8. The full build includes upgrades such as Patriot Performance Stage II two-valve heads, billet camshaft, Manley pistons, PA Performance alternator & starter, PPS '98 GT computer, cold air intake kit, JBA Shorty headers, and plenty more (call for all the details.) You just know that with one twist of the key, the Pypes Performance dual exhaust will bring everyone around you to attention. But more than just look and sound great, this custom Mustang is a true all-around performer. On the road the five-speed shifts with confidence thanks to the SPEC Stage II clutch/flywheel.
