Carrying on the tradition of offering a well-built car at an affordable price Ford introduced the Model A in 1928. It marked the first new model offered by Ford since 1909, when the Model T was introduced. Mechanically the Model A was much more advanced vehicle. It had roughly double the horsepower and was capable of a top speed of 65-mph. The dated planetary transmission design of the Model T was replaced by a new three-speed sliding gear transmission and braking was now accomplished by a four-wheel mechanical configuration. By 1930, the car went through its first redesign, which featured a lowered appearance. A look that was achieved by utilizing larger tires mounted on smaller wheels with wider fenders. For 1930, the Model A was offered in seventeen different body styles.
This 1930 Ford Model A Phaeton is presented in tan with black fenders and convertible top. The exterior of the car features front and rear bumpers, horn, leather convertible top tie-downs and a rear mounted spare. The car is powered by an inline four-cylinder engine which is paired to a three-speed manual transmission. The car rides on blackwall tires which are mounted on black wire wheels. This car has an older restoration that still presents very well.
