For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is a great 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS. This 67 Camaro is an original RS package car. A project started in 2003, this Camaro underwent a full restoration. The entire front clip and sub-frame, all the suspension, and the rear end were removed. Then, the sub-frame, radiator support, inner fender wells, and the upper and lower control arms were sand blasted and powder coated satin black. The body was taken down to bare metal. The only metal that needed to be replaced was the lower quarter panels and the panel between the rear windshield and trunk lid. The car was then professionally primed and painted with GM Fire Red Metallic with clear coat. The paint was done properly with the doors, front clip, and engine removed, allowing the firewall to be painted to match the car. The Rally Sport stripe package was painted and clear coated on as well, not just some vinyl stripes added later. The windshield and rear window received new glass, and all of the windows have new seals.
The interior received a great refresh as well. All of the seats were recovered with reproduction black vinyl to match stock equipment, and the front seats had new cushions installed. The headliner, visors, door panels, and carpet are new as well. While the carpet was out, sound deadening was installed to improve cabin refinement. This was a factory A/C car, but the A/C is not currently installed. A brand new wiring system from American Autowire was installed, and the dash was also painted to match the exterior.
Of course, after all of this work to make it show, it has to be made to go! The original 327 block and heads were professionally rebuilt with higher strength parts, and the engine was balanced. There is a new Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and carburetor, aluminum water pump, chrome alternator and fuel pump, MSD Street Fire HEI distributor, and an aluminum radiator. The original 3 speed manual was ditched in favor of a period correct 4 speed manual from Muncie with a Hurst Competition sport shifter. The front drum brakes were replaced with a disc kit with power boost. All bushings, suspension, and steering parts were replaced, as well as shocks and coil springs.
