GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1983 Mercury Capri for your consideration. This 2nd generation Capri was based on the Fox Body platform which also underpinned the Mustang. At the time, the Capri was an upscale option to the Mustang and was considered by many to be the more attractive of the two. The appeal is still strong today, and well- kept Capris such as this one are tough to find.
This 1983 Capri has been in the current owner's hands for 27 years, and underwent a complete exterior refinish in 2015, and the Bright Blue paint still shows very well. At the same time, the interior received new carpet and a headliner, and it too, is in great overall condition and belies the vehicle's age. Under the hood is where the action is at, where you'll find the 351 Windsor with many upgrades including a roller cam, Trick Flow High Port cylinder heads, Crane Gold 1.6 roller rockers, an Edelbrock Victor JR intake paired with a Holley 750 cfm double pumper carb, Watson Engineering Headers and a Flowmaster Exhaust. It also features a complete MSD ignition system and power steering. Power is transmitted to the 8.8" Posi rear end with 4.10 gears via a T5 transmission and a 10 ½" Centerforce dual friction clutch and flywheel, where it finally meets the ground via Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro tires mounted on Weld Racing wheels. This car is said to have ran 11.80s back in the day, and we don't doubt it could accomplish that today. This Capri is the perfect combination – a great daily driver with the power to still have fun at the strip.
