Vehicle Description
Exterior
The red exterior is in nice driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has great gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. Please take a moment to look at all the underside photos of the car. It is nearly as clean underneath as it is on top. The wheels and center caps are in spectacular condition with no curb rash and a great finish. The tires have about 90% tread left. There are a few blemishes around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. The frame is totally solid around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage." These are the most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included many photos of the underside to show how great it looks.
This Corvette looks as good in person as it does in the photos.
Window Date Codes
Driver: NY - The "N" denotes January and the "Y" denotes 1972 meaning the driver's side window was made in January of 1972. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.
Passenger: LY - The "L" denotes March and the "Y" denotes 1972 meaning the passenger side window was made in March of 1972. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.
Rear: XN - The "X" denotes February and the "N" denotes 1971 meaning the rear window was made in February of 1971.
Please Please note that the "Astro Ventilation" door glass is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of March 27, 1972 (H27). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.
Interior
The Black interior of the Corvette is in fantastic condition. It was basically completely redone when the car was restored. The seats look virtually brand new with no split seems, rips, or signs of wear. The carpet is in great condition with no tears, holes, or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The dash and console are in excellent shape with no fading, cracks, or sun damage. The door panels are in wonderful condition with no cracks. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes at all. Please note that the lap belts belts retract properly. This is a very common problem on this era Corvette and a small, but very important, detail most buyers do not think to check.

Mechanical
This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. There is a receipt with the car for the engine rebuild and one for reconditioning the transmission. The springs, all bushings, tie rods ends, ball joints, and basically the whole suspension is also new and was redone during the restoration. There are receipts for over $3,500 just for the suspension. The car is an awesome driver that is tight and handles like it is on rails with the Vette Brakes suspension. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it drives smooth and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive. The transmission shifts well. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos.
The horn works as do all the indicators, wipers, and exterior lights. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. The vacuum for the headlights and wiper door works with no effort or binding in the mechanism. Their entire operation can be viewed in the video below. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The temp gauge seems to work, but the fuse has blown a few times. Some of the fiber optics work. Please note that car operates with an ignition switch button the console. The car also has an Edlebrock Air/Fuel Ratio monitor installed in the dash in place of the radio. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with T-Tops out on a beautiful day.
A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1972 Corvette is in very clean condition. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now and out of those years 1969 and 1972 seem to be the most desirable. The excellent condition, the restoration, and the extensive documentation make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. The photographs shown in the pictures below are just a fraction of what is included in the binder that comes with the car. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
