Ford introduced the Thunderbird at the Detroit Auto Show on February 20, 1954 with the car later going on sale in 1955. Ford’s new Thunderbird outsold Chevrolet’s Corvette twenty-three to one. Minor changes were made to the car in 1956 and in 1957 the Thunderbird received its first restyling, featuring a new grille design and front bumper as well as larger tailfins. The interior featured the instrument panel from a full size Ford as well as an engine turned dashboard. The trunk was redesigned to accommodate a vertically stored spare tire. The 1957 Thunderbird marked the last year of first-generation production.
This 1957 Ford Thunderbird is presented in black with a white hardtop. Exterior features on the car include fender skirts and whitewall bias ply tires mounted on wire wheels. The car is powered by a 312-cid, 245-hp V-8 engine which is paired to an automatic transmission. The interior of the car is completed in a two-tone black and white; and features an AM radio and bench seating with seatbelts. This car is an older restoration example, but shows very nicely.
