For Sale: 1973 Volkswagen Beetle in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

The Volkswagen Beetle is as popular today as it ever was, and judging from the work that went into this 1973 Beetle, folks still love the Bug. Showing off a creamy white paint job and a beautifully preserved interior, it's quite authentic and if you want a VW that drives right and looks great, this is an excellent choice.

Bright colors seem to suit the charming little Beetle best, and the slightly off-white paint used here shows off the car's famous curves quite well. It's a bit subtle compared to all the bright colors these cars wore over the years, but at the same time, it seems quite appropriate for a car that has become an icon recognized around the world. The paint is fresh enough that you can almost smell it, and thanks to the wonders of modern paint technology, it positively glows. It looks right for 1973, with the right shine and no heavy metallic in the finish to make it look too modern. Practically everything you could need for a VW restoration is available brand new, so it should be no surprise that the bodywork is in great shape with doors that close without major effort and good fit to the fenders. A few modifications include the accessory headlight visors, custom flattened taillights, and tinted glass, but there's no mistaking this car for anything else. Plus the bright chrome bumpers shine up easily and look great against the white paint.

The simple black interior is a familiar sight and appears to be mostly original. It's quite nicely preserved, suggesting a lifetime of proper care and it all looks very factory-correct. Even in the 1970s, the Beetle was delightfully old-school, and offers map pockets in the doors, floor-hinged pedals and a single group of instruments ahead of the driver. The gauges are in very good condition, and this car offers factory A/C, which is a relatively rare and very welcome option that remains fully functional. Neatly tucked into the dash, a modern Kenwood AM/FM/iPod/Bluetooth stereo head unit looks like it was born there, although it does not appear to be connected to the speakers. In front, the trunk is full of A/C hoses and a spare tire, but there's still reasonable space for your gear.

The 1600 cc flat-four is the heart and soul of the Beetle. Recently updated with a new carburetor and fuel pump, it runs superbly and offers an obvious host of familiar upgrades that improve performance without sacrificing its basic virtues. Those new fuel system components ensure that it'll fire up quickly and easily without harming its bulletproof reliability, and it really runs beautifully. There's a stock exhaust system with chrome tips that only serves to amplify the familiar whistling exhaust note that's unique to the Beetle. The floor pan appears to be original and in good condition, and this is an early-style Beetle, so you get an early style suspension that rides and handles surprisingly well. The wheels have been recently restored and wear correct bright white paint and stainless hubcaps, along with a set of 185/80/15 radials that give the Bug a sturdy look.

Nicely finished and ready to enjoy, this is the future of the VW hobby. No longer cheap beaters, Beetles are finally getting the respect they have always deserved. Call today!
