For Sale: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette in Santa Monica, California

Vehicle Description

West Coast Classics are proud to present a mostly all original early model 1963 Chevrolet Split Window Sting Ray Corvette with what appears to be it's original matching # 327cid/300HP L75 V8 'RD' code engine and also appears to be an original matching #'s early 'Borg Warner' T10-7D 3813490 4 speed manual transmission with wide-ratio gears! Finished in the car's original and highly desirable special factory ordered color (Cost $80.70 new & the only color to cost extra with only 3,516 sold) 'Sebring Silver Metallic' color code 941 paint with its original Black vinyl (trim code BLK) interior with electric clock, power brakes, optional Aluminum knock off wheels and AM Delco radio. The specifications of the car currently appear as follows: 327/300HP L75 V8 engine ($53.80) Borg Warner 4 sped manual transmission with wide-ratio gears Cast Aluminum Knock Off Wheels Power Brakes ($43.05) Sebring Silver Metallic ($80.70) Signal Seeking AM Radio ($137.75) All original LOF date coded glass. T-3 Headlights, roll up and work perfect. Very straight body and door to birdcage fitment. Manual steering and windows. All mechanics are very good to excellent. The deck and VIN are carefully preserved with the numbers on the pad reading F0107RD 3106521 which correctly decodes as 'F' for the Flint, MI engine plant, '0107' is the engine assembly date of January 7th and 'RD' is the correct suffix code for the 327/300HP 4 BBL engine matched to a Borg Warner 4 spd manual transmission with dual exhausts. The '3106521' decodes as '3' correct for 1963 model year and '106521' is the matching VIN of the car (30837S106521). The transmission is a correct T10-7D 3813490 dated 11/27/62 and a correct early 1963 Borg Warner 4 speed manual delivered with wide-ratio gears. The bell housing for the 10" clutch is the correct GM housing for a 1963 only 4 speed Corvette # 3788421. This particular car has no signs of any accidents - obviously an always garaged and cherished car since new with the most recent owner having purchased the car in the mid 1980's. The car has always been garaged since then also and looks extremely impressive in it's repainted original 'Sebring Silver Metallic' color with a very original Black vinyl interior. All the chromework is in very good condition and the engine is extremely strong and powerful and this particular car drives absolutely magnificently (check out our video on our You Tube page on our website to see and hear the car running) - must be driven and seen to be truly appreciated - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day sports car a run for it's money! The 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the temperature always remains cool! Please note that for whatever reason the engine shows the stickers from a 340HP car which were in place from previous ownership and the 250 & 300HP engines used cast iron intake manifolds and painted stamped steel valve covers whereas the 340hp used an aluminum intake and finned aluminum valve covers like this particular car has; also if the instrument cluster is original, the 250 and 300hp engines had a 5500 rpm redline and the 340hp had a 6500 redline like this particular car has; ....... go figure, we are selling it as -is! The second generation, C2 Corvette, aka know as the Corvette Sting Ray was produced between 1963-7. Like all previous Corvettes, the Sting Ray had a body made from a number of fiberglass panels mounted on a traditional separate frame but the body and chassis were completely redesigned and for the first time a coupe body was available. A center wind split on the coupe roof flowed through the rear glass window creating the now legendary and highly collectible 1963 one year only 'Split-Window' coupe! Knock off aluminum wheels were introduced as a 1963 option. Delivery of a 1963 with knock-off wheels to a retail customer have not been confirmed but wheels were sold over the counter. Two bar (Very early) and three bar spinner styles were available. Finish between the fins was natural. A genuine touring car in every sense of the word with a vast range of drivetrain options. Widely considered one of the best styling efforts of the sixties and the shortest lived Corvette design. One of the most sought after Corvettes and a must have for any serious collection. This is a rare opportunity to own a great example of an older restored 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray legendary 'Split Window' coupe in very fine condition throughout! This is one highly desirable and collectible unabused example of one of the best styling efforts of any decade, a genuine grand touring car in every sense of the word and one of America's best loved classic cars ever, this shortest lived Corvette design (1963-67) is probably the most sought after apart from the 1953-1958 models and the one year only (1963) Split Window coupe is surely one of the 'must have' cars for any serious Corvette collector or enthusiast! This particular model, in striking and probably the most desirable 'Sebring Silver Metallic' color with knock off wheels and an original 4 speed manual transmission is sure to prove a most worthy investment for any Corvette collector or classic American car enthusiast!
