Are you after a car that dreams are made of ? Always wanted to own a real American Icon? This is a GORGEOUS !! - VERY RARE !! - RESTORED !! - 1972 Ford Mustang Convertible !! I say VERY RARE as they only built 6,121 Mustang convertibles in 1972 and they are getting really hard to find especially one this nice !! This is a car that NEVER fails to turn heads everywhere it goes and it shows, runs, and drives VERY WELL !! We just purchased this Mustang from the 60 year old local Idaho owner who inherited it from his father over 20 years ago. His elderly father bought the car over 30 years ago in Portland, Oregon then brought it to his home in Mesa, Arizona and then proceeded to have it professionally restored. As you can tell in the pictures and video it was their pride and joy for sure !! After inheriting the car over twenty years ago when his father passed away, the son has driven it less than 500 miles in the over 20 years he has had the car !! However he kept this car in his garage only taking it out on rare occasion on sunny days and in my opinion it looks like the restoration was done last year !! It still retains it's FACTORY ORIGINAL - correctly mounted driver's door mounted Ford data sticker and it's correctly mounted - FACTORY ORIGINAL - dash mounted Ford VIN plate, both of which are shown in several pictures. I drove this car as my daily driver for nearly two weeks and I assure you it runs and drives GREAT !! This car is a sweet driver and cruises down the freeway at 75+ mph easily and as smooth as can be. In 2013 the son ( previous owner) had this car taken by rollback to a local shop and all of the old gas drained out of the tank and all of the fluids check and they then road tested the car. It was then driven a couple times per year and again in February of 2016 it was taken to a local shop where they replaced the heater core, did some brake work and rebuilt the carburetor. The tires and wheels were purchased March of 2016 and have very few miles on them. Nothing needed on this one to drive away, IT'S READY TO DRIVE, SHOW AND ENJOY !! This BEAUTY is in great mechanical condition and everything works well except for the original clock and radio. THIS IS A QUALITY CAR FOR SURE !!
At the heart of this BEAUTY is what appears to be the STRONG !! - FACTORY ORIGINAL - Code "F" - 302 CID V8 Motor in it that is running very well indeed. The motor also still retains the ORIGINAL intake manifold, ORIGINAL exhaust manifolds, ORIGINAL "Ford" scripted valve covers, ORIGINAL air cleaner housing and the ORIGINAL carburetor, Etc... . Sounds good too with the factory style exhaust system with dual chrome tips. The father who had this car restored really liked the looks of the late sixties Ford Mustang GT exhaust so he had that GT look incorporated in the rear lower panel of this Mustang, TOO COOL !! The engine is backed by a SMOOTH - PROFESSIONALLY REBUILT - Code "W" - C-4 three speed automatic transmission that also functions very well. The GORGEOUS !! - MOSTLY NEW when the car was restored - Red Cloth Velour and White Vinyl Mustang full bucket seat interior is in BEAUTIFUL condition including VERY NICE Red Cloth Velour and White Vinyl front full bucket seats, NICE ORIGINAL Matching White Vinyl door panels showing some imperfections, with correct faux wood grain inserts, VERY NICE Matching Red carpeting, VERY NICE Real Wood Mustang "Pony" steering wheel, VERY NICE Red Cloth Velour and White Vinyl rear "bucket bench" seat, NICE ORIGINAL Black dash, VERY NICE ORIGINAL Factory gauge clusters, VERY NICE Factory style red carpeted Mustang floor mats, VERY NICE ORIGINAL Black Vinyl sun visors and a VERY NICE ORIGINAL Black Vinyl dash pad with NO CRACKS !! The Matching White Vinyl convertible top is also in VERY NICE condition and sports a correct glass rear window and a NICE matching white vinyl convertible top boot cover. All of the black rubber weatherstripping is soft, supple and in NEW condition. The EYE POPPING BEAUTIFUL !! - Bright Red exterior finish with Gold Metallic accent stripe is GORGEOUS with really very little wear showing other than a couple of very small chips that have been touched up and is still bright, shiny and looks STUNNING as you can clearly see in the video above and 100 ADDITIONAL PICTURES !! The BEAUTIFUL - MOSTLY NEW Red Cloth Velour and White Vinyl bucket seat interior and the STUNNING matching Bright Red exterior finish is a GREAT color combination indeed ! How could you get any better for a Mustang Convertible ?!! This is one sharp car indeed !! This RARE Pony has outstanding looks and GREAT power as well ! It is nicely equipped including factory power brakes with discs up front, factory power steering, factory front and rear seat belts, original dual remote sport side view exterior mirrors, original day / night rear view mirror, factory power wipers, good heater and defroster, original clock which is no longer working, factory gauge clusters with 120 MPH speedometer, working factory power convertible top, original Philco AM radio which is no longer working and factory back up lights.
These vehicles have an appreciative group of owners any of which would be pleased to own this one. The suspension and drive line seem to be in good working order as well as the electrical system. Check out the BEAUTIFUL - BRAND NEW - American Racing - "Classic 200" - custom chrome wheels wrapped in BRAND NEW steel belted radial tires, boy do they look OUTSTANDING on this Mustang and really retain that clean - "Muscle Car" - look !! All of the ORIGINAL chrome and stainless steel exterior body trim and moldings are in VERY NICE condition including VERY NICE ORIGINAL Chrome front and rear bumpers, NICE ORIGINAL badging and VERY NICE ORIGINAL front grill and "Pony" emblem. The CLEAN - SOLID trunk also sports a VERY NICE NEW Red carpet liner and a full size spare tire. This Mustang Convertible is a good investment opportunity and it is priced right ! This vehicle is in GORGEOUS condition from top to bottom and from front to back. It will not disappoint someone looking for a good example of a sought after and hard to find collector car which is not seen at every stop light for sure. This vehicle is in GREAT mechanical condition and it runs and drives VERY WELL !! It is solid with respect to the overall mechanical condition as well as the overall cosmetic impression. I looked underneath and also included photos below, again this car has been a NICE - DRY - SOLID - Oregon - Arizona - Idaho High Mountain Desert - western vehicle and boy does it show. In my opinion you can't find much nicer ORIGINAL FLOORS than the ones on this BEAUTY !!
