Ideal for Porsche Club Events, Casual Driving or Tours and Rallies. As the first car bearing the Porsche name, the 356 remains the cornerstone of its continuing legend. The final-series 356C debuted in July 1963 and while differing little at first glance from the prior 356B, it was carefully improved and refined throughout. Body suppliers were now streamlined, with Karmann in Osnabruck supplying coupes and Porsche, which had just purchased Reutter, building the Cabriolets in Stuttgart. Mechanically, the 356C represented a leap forward with standard four-wheel disc brakes, new 15-inch wheels with smaller ventilation holes and flat hubcaps, and suspension tweaks for improved handling. Deeper bucket-type reclining seats were courtesy of Reutter, which owned a seating subsidiary that became world-famous as Recaro, short for Reutter Carosserie. The 95-hp (107 SAE) 1600 SC unit replaced the 'Super 90' as the most-powerful pushrod-type engine in Porsche's road cars, second only to the track-oriented Carrera 2 four-cam. In both cases, drivability and performance improved, with the 1600 SC a technical tour de force capable of propelling the 356C to nearly 120 mph! This 1965 Porsche 356C/1600 SC Cabriolet marks the ultimate evolution and specification of the historic 356-series models from Stuttgart. Numbered 161043, it is accompanied by a copy of the factory Kardex production record and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. A complete matching numbers example including all five date-coded wheels, 161043 is presented in its striking factory-specified livery comprising Champagne (6405) paint over black leather upholstery. Completed on August 27, 1964, this 356C/1600 SC was optioned with trim strips, ventilated chrome wheels, and Continental tires. It was shipped to Competition Motors of Culver City, California, where it was sold new to Mr. Ray Crandall of Encino. Circa 1969, 161043 was acquired by Dr. Richard Antin of Beverly Hills, an active Porsche Club Member who retained the Porsche until 2006, when he passed away and left the car to his daughter, a resident of Colorado Springs. Confirming its 46 years of single-family ownership, the Porsche is accompanied by nearly all registration documents spanning 1972-2006 and all from 2006 to the present. In addition to the thick dossier of paperwork accompanying 161043, it is offered with a spare tire/wheel and jack, a rare original toolkit, an owner's manual, and tonneau cover. The body and gaps are very straight and consistent and the underside which has been nicely detailed retains factory-applied undercoating, which remains almost completely in place. Highly correct, honestly presented, and blessed with more than four decades of single-family ownership and care, this 1965 Porsche 356C/1600 SC cabriolet is certainly one of the finest available. $245,000.00 Offers Welcomed Full Resolution Photos: 1965 Porsche 356C/1600 SC Cabriolet To learn more about this vehicle, please contact our sales department at (281) 497-1000 or [email protected] SELLING YOUR CAR?
