For Sale: 1962 Austin-Healey BT7 in Eugune, Oregon

Vehicle Description

We have a rare and restored 1962 Austin Healey 3000 BT7. The VIN# is HBT7L14887. 1962 was the final year of the pure roadsters and the only year for the desirable triple carb option. The tri-carb MKII Austin Healeys are recognizable by the fact they have the vertical grille that was fitted to the later BJ7 and BJ8 cars. This car was restored in Canada approximately 25 years ago and has had minimal miles since. It was purchased and imported to Oregon by the foremost tri-carb expert in the country for his wife. They have driven and enjoyed it at many Healey functions over the years, but have found their aging backs uncooperative, so they have decided to send it on to a new home. The car has just been mechanically freshened in our shop with $5,900 worth of service and repair with complete brake system and clutch overhaul, bearing repack, a major tune up, and all fluids changed. We also fitted a new, full stainless exhaust system, which gives the car a perfect tone. New tires and tubes have been fitted to the wire wheels and spin balanced on our special adapter. The car is now an exceptionally good driver.

Mechanicals: Engine has excellent power, great oil pressure and is quiet and smooth. The transmission shifts excellent and is fitted with overdrive. Gear set is quiet and shifts well, overdrive works and engages properly. Suspension is solid and rides well. The tri-carb setup works well. Brakes have been rebuilt complete with new rotors, pads and shoes. Extremely solid car mechanically.

Tires and Wheels: Tires 165/80-15 are new and wheels are clean and painted. Smooth riding car.

Interior: Nice condition black interior compliments the exterior color. Top is good and side curtains come with the car.

Body, Paint, and Chrome: Straight and clean chassis rails, no signs of major accidents or serious rust, prior rust was repaired in lower doglegs. Rear trunk floor was patched and undercoated serviceable, but proper repair would have included replacement. Rear fender seam to rocker was filled. Paint is older but still glossy with some chips touched up. Car has driver level body and paint, not concours level. Chrome is good. Windshield is good, and side curtains near new.

Summary: This is an exceptionally good driver with great mechanicals. Tough to find an Austin Healey with such solid mechanicals. It will provide years of enjoyment and should be reliable to do long trips in. This is a hard to find, rarer model, that deserves its premium over the earlier non triple carb cars. While not a show car, it is a reasonably priced car for the person who likes to drive their collector car. Feel free to call Bob at 541-543-6791 and ask any questions.
