Here is a throwback design that really gets it right. This is a
limited edition 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker. When the new
Challenger design was introduced for 2008 it captured some of the
best design elements of the classic 1970 design. But this was
really made complete with the Shaker package. Only 2,000 were
built, making this one of the more rare and desirable
Challengers.
This beautiful one-owner car has only 5,500 miles. As expected, it
is in fantastic condition and retains the balance of its factory
warranty. The black paint really gives this car a mean look along
with the factory graphics and 20-inch aluminum wheels. And of
course the Shaker hood really makes it stand out. Note this car is
also equipped with the power sunroof option, along with an
aftermarket rear window louver kit which can be easily removed if
desired (no bolt holes).
The drivetrain starts with the 5.7L Hemi rated at a healthy 375
horsepower (that's more than the legendary 1970 426ci Hemi and its
425 gross / 350 net horsepower). The transmission is a 5-speed
automatic equipped with paddle shifters, while the rear end uses a
3.06 gear ratio with the optional limited slip package. All this
performance remains very easy to drive and includes stability
control and anti-lock disc brakes.
The leather interior is officially called Dark Slate Gray but looks
black. Note the orange stitching and the SHAKER logos embroidered
in the seat backs. The centerpiece of the dash is the optional
Uconnect system with its 6.5" touch screen, GPS navigation, 40GB
hard drive, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and more. There is also the
Sound Group II option with seven Boston Acoustics speakers and
subwoofer. Unlike the 1970 Challenger, this is a very comfortable
environment!
The big option on this car is the $7,000 Shaker package 28S. In
addition to the obvious Shaker setup and graphics, this also
includes a track tuned suspension, performance steering, rear
spoiler, heated front seats, and more. The original window sticker
and all manuals are included too, along with a set of front
Weathertech floor mats.
There is a lot to like with this car. It is a well optioned retro
Challenger with low miles and great looks. It is part of a limited
production run (this being #1496 of 2000). And it captures the
style of its 1970 predecessor but with all of today's performance,
comfort, and convenience.
